License Description:
Requirements to obtain a United States Coast Guard license as an Assistant Engineer (Limited - Oceans) include 1,080 days at sea, with 540 days as a Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED). This license is valid for 5 years and may be renewed through various options involving recent work experience, passing an open-book exercise, or completing a refresher training course.
