Industrial Machinery Mechanics

Certification Description
The Certified Balancing Specialist - Category I certification validates an individual's knowledge of the basics of balancing, vibration testing and analysis, and balancing techniques. Individuals seeking certification as a Balancing Specialist are required to understand basic shop and field balancing concepts, and be able to perform vibration analysis, conduct single-plane balancing, calculate balance sensitivity and phase lag, and evaluate balance results against ISO balancing standards. To become certified, applicants must pass a multiple choice exam. The Vibration Institute certification committee recommends that applicants have a minimum of 12 months of experience and 32 hours of training. If the candidate lacks these requirements, a course can be taken in order to prepare for the exam.
