Certified Orthotic and Prosthetic Assistant Certification Description Under the guidance and supervision of the ABC certified practitioner, certified assistants may perform orthotic and prosthetic procedures and related tasks in the management of patients. The certified assistant also fabricates, repairs and maintains devices to provide maximum fit, function and cosmesis. ABC certified assistants may not use their credential as independent practitioners engaged in unsupervised patient care. Medical Gas Inspector 6020 Certification Description Candidates shall successfully complete a minimum twenty-four (24) hours of training, which includes a written examination. Candidates shall be employed by a governmental unit as a plumbing, mechanical, or combination inspector, be employed by a governmental unit as an administrator of such inspectors, or be employees of firms that are regularly involved in the design, inspection or verification of medical gas systems. Medical Gas Installer 6010 Certification Description This examination is covered under NITC's scope of accreditation by the American Standards Institute (ANSI). The medical gas installer-brazer examination consists of two portions; a proctored, closed book multiple-choice one hundred (100) question written examination and a brazing examination. Medical Gas Instructor 6050 Certification Description Candidates must have successfully completed a minimum course of forty (40) hours. All Medical Gas Systems Instructors shall have a minimum of ten (10) years of documented experience in the installation of piping system or a minimum of two (2) years of documented experience in the installation of medical gas and vacuum systems. Instructors shall have a minimum of two (2) years documented practical teaching experience. Instructors shall possess a current Medical Gas Systems Installer certification in compliance with ASSE Series 6000 Standard 6010. Medical Gas Maintenance Personnel 6040 Certification Description Candidates must have completed thirty-two (32) hours of training in the maintenance of medical gas/vacuum systems, and have a minimum of one (1) year experience in the maintenance of medical gas/vacuum systems. This certification is administered in accordance with the American Society of Sanitary Engineers (ASSE) series 6000, standard #6040.
